1776
Online sign-ups will open in January 2026.
When is the next audition?
Auditions for 1776 will take place on March 21st at New Song Bible Church, located at:
470250 US-95
Sagle, ID 83860
Men’s audition: 10:00 AM
Women’s audition: 2:00 PM
Note: If you are a woman auditioning for a pants role (a traditionally male role), you will still audition during the women’s audition time at 2:00 PM.
Is it a musical?
Yes!
How does it work?
To audition, create a free Cast98 account and sign up for either the male or female audition time once registration becomes available. Your Cast98 profile can be used for this and future productions.
No monologue or prepared song is required. We’ll teach you a short section of a song at the audition. You’ll be asked to sing a few bars in front of the group.
If you’re only interested in a small role and prefer not to sing solo, you’ll be grouped with one or two others to sing together. However, please note: If you are not willing to sing solo, you will only be considered for ensemble roles.
Who can audition?
Anyone who meets the following age requirements:
Men: Ages 15 and up
Women: Ages 20 and up
This production includes up to 25 roles for men and 2 roles for women.
Note: Women who are interested and willing may be cast as members of the Continental Congress in traditionally male roles.
Read about the characters here.
Can women play male roles?
Yes. We are open to casting women in traditionally male roles (also known as “pants roles”). This production includes a large number of male characters, and we understand that filling all roles may require drawing from our entire talent pool.
While we generally prefer to cast men in male roles and women in female roles, we are open to gender-flexible casting when it serves the story and suits the production.
How long will auditions be?
The length of auditions will depend on how many people attend. Each audition block is scheduled for up to four hours, though we don’t expect to use the full time.
Callbacks will take place immediately after the group auditions. During callbacks, we’ll ask those being considered for specific roles to sing additional material and potentially learn a little bit of very simple choreography.
Do I need experience to audition?
Nope! This is community theatre. Whether a seasoned pro or newbie you are welcome.
What if I’m not a good singer?
This is community theatre, there’s no such thing as a “bad” singer, only an unwilling one! If you’re willing to sing, we’re willing to cast you.
Stronger singers will naturally be considered for lead roles, but there is plenty of room for all skill levels in the ensemble. Enthusiasm and a positive attitude go a long way!
What if I want a specific role?
You’ll have the chance to indicate which roles you’re interested in and which ones you’d prefer to avoid on your audition form. While no roles are guaranteed, we do our best to place people where they’ll be happiest and most successful.
Read about the characters here.
Will everyone who auditions get a role?
With many roles available for men, male auditionees have a strong chance of being cast. However, there are only two female roles, so the selection will be more competitive for women.
That said, women who are willing may also be considered for pants roles as members of the Continental Congress.
What is the time commitment?
This show has a shorter overall timeline than past productions but requires rehearsing up to four nights a week. Rehearsals begin on April 7th and will be held at New Song Bible Church in Sagle on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6:00 p.m. The lead role, John Adams, is expected at every rehearsal, while Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson are called to most rehearsals. Most other cast members typically will be called three days a week.
The production runs for one weekend only, with performances at The Panida in Sandpoint. Shows include evening performances on Thursday, July 2nd, Friday, July 3rd, and Saturday, July 4th, followed by a matinee on Sunday, July 5th.
You can find the full rehearsal calendar here.
What does it cost to participate?
Actors will need to provide their own shoes, appropriate undergarments, and basic stage makeup for the show. While Honey Pearl Productions will not be purchasing makeup, we will guide you on what to buy and show you how to apply it correctly. Everything else is covered by us!
How will I find out if I am cast?
Everyone will find out whether or not they’ve been cast in the same order: newsletter subscribers will be notified first, then the cast list will be posted on social media, and finally, a direct email will be sent to all who auditioned.
Are there other ways to get involved?
Yes! We are always in need of more volunteers to do a variety of tasks from stage crew to set building to helping take tickets at the door! Please inquire if you are interested in getting involved.
